Arabia's classic Mainio series mug with the university's own unique Rosetti design. Color: navy blue and white
The product series called “Rosette” is designed by Jyväskylä based artist Nina Huisman from Mustavalkea Ltd.
In classic architecture, the rosette is a round, often relief-like ornament that resembles a rose. It is believed that the motif is originally based on the halo of the sun. The friezes of the Neo-Renaissance buildings on the Seminaarinmäki campus feature rosettes on a blue-painted background. For late 19th-century Neo-Renaissance architecture, such elaborate façade ornamentation was typical. The idea for the rosette motifs to liven up the façades of the Jyväskylä Teacher Seminary buildings, built in 1879-1883, came from Konstantin Kiseleff, the architect of the buildings.
